Cake Decorating I: Introduction to Cake Decorating

 

 

12 Hours - 4 classes of 3 hour sessions

Fee: $150

Dates: Monday Sept. 14, 21, 28 Oct. 5

Time: 6:30pm-9:30pm

 

Subjects Covered Include: Types of Icing, Borders, Garlands, Flowers, Writing, sugar molding. Icing a cake, emphasis placed on good piping skills

Prerequisite: None

Students should bring to class: A note pad, pencil, apron, and palette knife/spatula

 

 

 

Cake Decorating II - Intermediate

 

 

12 hours - 4 classes of 3 hour sessions

Fee: $150

Dates: Monday Oct. 19, 26 Nov. 2, 9.

Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm

 

Learn more borders, flowers, colour flow and introduction to rolled fondant and its uses will be demonstrated. Student decorates a special occasion cake.

Prerequisite: Cake Decorating 1

Students should bring to class: All supplies from Cake Decorating I, a note pad scissors, pencil, apron and handy wipe (J cloth) palette knife/spatula. Students will decorate a special occasion cake.

 

 

 

Cake Decorating III - Wedding Cake

 

 

12 hours - 4 classes of 3 hour sessions

Fee: $150

Date: Monday Nov. 16, 23, 24, Dec. 7

Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm

 

Design your own 2 tier wedding cake using Rolled Fondant. Cake styling, construction and covering will be demonstrated

Prerequisite: Cake Decorating I & II

Students should bring to class: Tools from Cake Decorating I & II.

 

 

 

Rolled Fondant Techniques I

 

 

12 hours - 4 classes of 3 hour sessions

Fee: $160

Date: Tuesday Oct. 20, 27, Nov. 3, 10.

Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm

 

This course teaches the varied techniques of working with this e3legant medium. Several borders, marbleizing, crimping embossing , embroidery, fondant flowers, ribbon insertion and lace will be taught.

Prerequisite: None

Students should bring to class the following: notepad, pencil, apron, small scissors 1,2,3, an 8" palette knife/spatula, decorating bag and coupler, fondant smoother rolling pin, small paring knife and exacta knife.

Other tools such as crimper, embosser and frilling tool, will be supplied to be used in class. Students can purchase their own to take home from store.

 

 

 

 

Gumpaste I

 

 

 

12 hours - 4 classes of 3 hour sessions

Fee: $150

Date: Wednesday Sept. 16, 23, Oct. 7, 14

Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm

 

This class offers more beautiful life-like flowers from Gum paste to expand your flowers portfolio. Flowers covered are: Stargazer and plain lily, carnation, orchid, primrose, forget-me-not, fillers and foliage.

Prerequisite: Gum paste I

Students should bring to class: Tools from Gum paste I and Gum paste Cutters

 

 

 

Brush Embroidery

 

 

3 hours - 1 class

Fee: $45

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm 

 

This class teaches the art of making beautifully embroidered floral designs on sides of cakes, using royal icing and paint brushes.

Prerequisite: None

Please bring to class: #3 paint brush, Tips: #2 & 3, and exacta knife, note pad.

 

 

 

 

Rolled Buttercream

 

 

3 hours - 1 class

Fee: $50

Date: Tuesday Sept. 22.

Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm

 

Learn to make and cover your cakes with Rolled Butter cream. This medium the elegant look of Fondant with a taste of butter cream and is very easy to apply.

Prerequisite: Cake Decorating I & II

 

 

 

 

Royal Icing Flowers

 

 

3 hours - 1 class

Fee: $50

Date: Tuesday Oct. 6.

Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm

 

Create more varied cake designs with a larger variety of flowers. Learn to make carnations, lilly of the valley, petunia, chrysanthemum, primrose and more.

Tools required: 6" palette knife, #7 flower nail, tips: 2, 3, 16, 35, 81, 102 & 103.
